Spanish Anti-LGBT Group Is Bringing Its Transphobic Bus To America

"Boys have penises, girls have vulvas. Do not be fooled: If you are born a man, you are a man."

A Spanish group that sparked outrage for commissioning a bus with an anti-transgender slogan is making plans to take their message of hate to the U.S. next week.

Last week, the city of Madrid banned a shuttle bus bearing the phrase, “Boys have penises, girls have vulvas. Do not be fooled. If you are born a man, you are a man. If you are a woman, you will continue to be one.”

Commissioned by the Catholic group Hazte Oir ("Make Yourself Heard"), the bus was slated to go on a nationwide tour, as a response to recent efforts at trans inclusion and education in Spain. But Madrid officials said it was "contrary to the dignity and rights of transgender children” and barred it from the capital city.

Ada Colau, the mayor of Barcelona, released a preemptive warning, tweeting “In Barcelona there is no place for LGBT-phobic buses. We want our children to grow in freedom and without hatred.” And former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton signaled her outrage over the campaign, as well, tweeting, "please don't bring these buses to the U.S. (or anywhere)."

Clinton's message only seemed to spur the group on to actually bring the shuttle stateside.

Hazte Oir is associated with Citizen Go, a Madrid-based Catholic activist group that opposes reproductive rights, LGBT equality and access to comprehensive sex education. (A petition on the Citizen Go site calls for the UN to stop providing information on contraceptives and abortion care in the developing world.)

On Tuesday, Citizen Go CEO Álvaro Zulueta announced the bus would be in America next week.

Well, we're sure Donald Trump will love it—it's mean-spirited, orange and full of gas.
